In a brand new interview with RichardMetalFan, former DEICIDE guitarist Jack Owen was requested what it was wish to share guitar duties with Kevin Quirion for Jack‘s closing album with the band, 2013’s “In The Minds of Evil”. He stated (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “Kevin‘s superior. He’s a man that will do something for you. And he’s so motivated so far as writing and contributing and serving to out on the highway with something… However, yeah, Kevin is superior. He wrote killer stuff on there — very thrashy, however me and him labored effectively collectively. There’s numerous co-writing on there between me and him.”
Relating to how his break up with DEICIDE took place, Jack stated: “Oh, it was an issue with new stuff I used to be writing. I walked into apply and Steve [Asheim, DEICIDE‘s drummer and main songwriter] had re-recorded it and altered notes right here and there for 3 or 4 songs that I had. It was silly on the time. However he is, like, ‘Hey, I modified the notes so I get writing credit score.’ And I am, like, ‘That is not how the songs go, although.’ And Glen‘s [Benton, DEICIDE frontman], like, ‘It’s now.’ [Laughs] So I actually walked out and ghosted them. [Laughs] In a while, it was like, ‘Hey, dude, you are out.'”
One of many founding members of CANNIBAL CORPSE, Owen joined DEICIDE in 2004 and performed on 4 of the latter band’s studio albums: “The Stench Of Redemption” (2006),“Until Demise Do Us Half” (2008),“To Hell With God” (2011) and the aforementioned “In The Minds Of Evil”.
In a 2017 interview with Metallic Wani, Asheim acknowledged about Owen‘s departure from DEICIDE: “We had been simply sort of writing the report, and we had been going over the songs. Me and Glen, we had been, like, ‘We wanna redo the songs.’ It is like we had accomplished them — about 9 or twelve, no matter what number of songs. They had been all proper, however we weren’t actually psyched about them. So we determined to rewrite them. And Jack did not actually prefer it.
