For a band as accustomed to turbulence as Sure, the Nineteen Nineties appeared particularly unstable. If the 70s had been their crowning progressive years and the 80s an MTV-assisted business triumph, the subsequent decade regarded complicated and clouded – not made any simpler by 1991’s ill-fated Union, which introduced collectively the varied disparate factions of the band with less-than-stellar outcomes.
Misplaced in the course of all of it was their 14th album, 1994’s Speak, a file that’s been perpetually missed, thanks partially to its alluringly gentle contact. This reissue – launched 30 years on in four-CD field set, two-LP white vinyl and primary single CD editions – goes an extended solution to elevating it to its rightful place within the Sure canon.
