Songs of Euphoria – The March Of The Amazons
Recounting an epic quest of the mythological all-female tribe of the Amazons via symphonic rock, is the formidable debut launch for Berlin-based musical theatre venture Songs of Euphoria. Fronted by their very own warrior queens – Nadine, Melinda and Lucia – the six-piece create an immersive track that owes a lot of its drama to the likes of Queen and Finnish band Nightwish.

And there’s a particular sense of the classical to the Sturm and Drang of the monitor. Not least via the Oriental-sounding refrain echoing the tribes’ quest: “Far to the east we roam to be launched earlier than the top of time”. There are sections the place the feminine vocals harmonise in solidarity creating power in numbers for the warrior queens backed by a marching drumbeat. In distinction, when there’s only a single vocal, the overriding sense is of human fallibility that feeds on hope: “I’ll see the sunshine then we be launched. All we sisters three shall be free then.”
What permits ‘The March of the Amazons’ to face tall and march by itself six toes within the pantheon of symphonic rock is the size of the music.
